November has been a busy month at Aegir Insights, as we have been out, connecting with others in the industry and having interesting talks.
RESource 2025, Amsterdam
Companies, policymakers, and the energy sector came together to discuss corporate renewable energy sourcing and turning climate ambition into real projects. We had some insightful discussion, with the main takeaway: There is industry consensus that stand-alone assets need to be enhanced in current price-volatile markets, so hybridization/storage integration is crucial. It will be key to make these complex processes easier for developers and investors to accelerate the transition.
Marine Renewables Canada, Halifax
The conference highlighted Canada’s ambition for renewables with strong signals from governments and developers. Focus is on establishing routes to market, namely by advancing the Wind West project, and on moving from goals to concrete development plans, with Nova Scotia province recently launching the prequalification for its first offshore wind auction. With the slowdown in the US, developers and supply chain are looking for opportunities elsewhere and Canada could seize the moment.
Offshore Energy Conference & Exhibition, Amsterdam
What is the road ahead for offshore wind in the Netherlands? Thomas Hwan Jensen joined a discussion on the future of Dutch offshore wind. Offshore wind in the Netherlands can thrive, but it requires predictability, partnerships, and a more mature market foundation. A smaller, but more realistic and robust pipeline increases certainty of project realization which is essential for the supply chain.
Danish Climate and Energy Law Society event, Copenhagen

As Denmark recently launched its 3 GW auctions across three sites, Signe Tellier Christensen gave an overview of key factors deterring bidding interest from the last Danish auction – and how the commercial outlook and business case for the current auction is looking in light of the final auction material being released. The Danish sites enter a crowded field of other currently ongoing and upcoming fixed-bottom opportunities in Northern Europe but offer good fundamentals and remain attractive.
Recharge Wind Power Summit, Hamburg
Wind wakes are becoming an increasingly hot topic in offshore wind across markets, as was the case at the Wind Power Summit in Hamburg last week. Our CEO Scott Urquhart focused on the uneven impact of external wakes on different stakeholders within the same project. More and more stakeholders are therefore looking into advanced commercial simulations of wake interference and better quality forecasts on project timings.

It’s nice to hear others’ reflections on the state of the industry after this turbulent year and there is slow optimism returning, as the sector recalibrates.
We are looking forward to re-connecting in the coming year, both at the Wind Expo Japan in Tokyo in March, and at WindEurope in Madrid, April 2026.
