Last week, the broad Danish energy sector came together to discuss solutions for the future at Energy Cluster Denmark's annual event. Katherine Dykes, VP Engineering presented Aegir's software created in collaboration with Vattenfall and Denmark's Technical University to analyze and optimize hybrid renewable energy projects.

Hybrid renewable energy projects combine multiple technologies, i.e. offshore wind, plus green hydrogen production and/or energy storage, and are becoming increasingly important for integration and project profitability. This new strategic focus is highly relevant for companies participating in European offshore wind auctions, with several countries having firm auction criteria or commercial opportunities which can be achieved through ‘integration initiatives’.

Through this Danish Energy Agency EUDP funded project, Aegir Insights is extending its sector leading commercial software to evaluate hybrid offshore wind projects including solar, storage, green hydrogen and other revenue streams.

Also at the event, our CCO Rikke Nørgaard participated in a panel debate about how important soft funding is for scale-up companies to continue innovation and product development. Since Aegir was founded, it has benefited from soft funding from both EUDP and Innovation Fund Denmark, which in collaboration with industry and academia allowed for fast-tracked product development.
