In the second half of 2025, amid the sector's restabilizing, offshore wind saw a significant spike in transaction count and accumulated capacities caused by acquisitions of early-stage portfolios and asset swaps across joint ventures in Northern Europe.

Despite signaling a thriving M&A market, the H2 2025 spike includes assets with great risk of mortality and swap deals which is likely to indicate corrected strategy execution rather than willingness to pay.

As most utilities continue the farm-down path to reduce exposure there has been increased activity from pure-play developers who are looking to take on the task of maturing development projects.
