Poland's looking towards renewables to support its energy independence and the green transition, and the Polish government is determined to invest in offshore wind.
Although there is currently no operational offshore wind in Polish waters, the first project, Baltic Power (1.2 GW), is planned to have a commercial operation date in 2026, with a further +17 GW of fixed-bottom offshore wind projects in the pipeline.
A series of support auctions is scheduled from 2025 and onwards, awarding offtake support for Polish offshore wind projects. The government ambition is to have a total capacity of 12 GW supported through several competitive auctions until 2031.
