How can new IT tools and scenario modelling help investors and energy companies plan and optimize future renewable energy generation, storage and hybrid plants?
This is what we are working on as part of the innovation project REALISE, together with Vattenfall, DTU Wind and Energy Systems, and Energy Cluster Denmark, where we are developing new software tools for the design and economic evaluation of green hybrid energy parks.
In the future, green energy solutions will need to multiply in order to meet Danish and European climate targets. This requires increased complexity as so-called hybrid plants become more widespread, linking together multiple energy sources and storage solutions.
This increased complexity is challenging energy companies and investors who need to make long-term investment decisions. There is a need for digitally supported modelling tools, that can address the many unknown variables and quickly calculate different scenarios, which are being developed as part of the Realise project.
Our Head of Software Solutions Morten Kofoed Jensen and Vattenfall’s José Pedro Blasques presented the project and its importance for optimizing the profitability of future renewable energy plants in an interview with the Maskinmestrenes Forening magazine.
