The UK has in a few years grown its floating offshore wind pipeline to close to 30 GW with site secured, meaning almost half of the UK offshore wind development pipeline consists of floating projects, many in commercial scale.

The majority of UK’s floating pipeline originates from the ScotWind Leasing Round, awarded in 2022. After a longer period of limited news on the ScotWind projects, last month brought several ownership changes, reshuffling floating portfolio capacities amongst players in the market. This could signal shifting priorities and suggest fresh momentum.

However, with the technology remaining early-stage in a market hit by rising costs and greater developer caution, which projects could be among the first to move?

In a new report, Aegir Insights has reviewed the UK floating pipeline above 100 MW to identify which projects are most advanced in consenting and highlight key topics to watch for the UK floating sector in 2026.
