Last week, the offshore wind industry gathered in Madrid for the annual WindEurope conference.

The mood felt different from WindEurope Copenhagen last year. While last year it seemed like the industry was holding its breath, this year, something has shifted to more optimism.

This could also be felt during Aegir Insights’ own event, where we welcomed clients, partners, and industry peers for networking, tapas, and rooftop roundtable discussions on the issues shaping offshore wind right now.

Recovery amidst the Hormuz crisis

With David Rooney (Vestas) and Adam Thomsen (Skyborn Renewables) we had a lively discussion about offshore wind currently being caught in a looming energy crisis and whether the conditions are in place for a potential rebound. Facilitated by Matthew Delany and David Vestergaard Thomsen (Aegir Insights) the discussion also shared perspectives from our latest analysis "The irony and the opportunity: Offshore wind caught in a looming energy crisis.“

Strengthening value chain collaboration

Together with Trine Borum Bojsen (Equinor) and Esben Strandgaard Kyndesen (EEW Group) we explored what sustainable and viable project execution looks like in practice, in a session facilitated by Rikke Nørgaard and Victoria Toft (Aegir Insights).

It has truly been an exciting and energizing week at WindEurope 2026. Thank you to all our guests for the quality of discussion and for the many engaging conversations throughout the conference.
