Founders

Scott Urquhart

Chief Executive Officer

Energy experience: 20 years of experience in the energy industry within investment analysis, commercial management, project development and growth strategy from Orsted, Macquarie Capital and Stiesdal.

Scott started his energy career as a petroleum engineer in Canada in 2003 before transitioning into energy investment banking with Macquarie Capital in the UK. In 2011, he moved into the offshore wind sector, joining Orsted initially to build a commercial team focused on turbine pricing and technology valuation, and later becoming Programme Director for the landmark Race Bank and West of Duddon Sands projects off Britain.

Before co-founding Aegir, Scott served as a strategic advisor to renewable energy pioneer Henrik Stiesdal, helping establish Stiesdal A/S in areas including floating wind, long duration storage and Power-to-X. Scott holds a LLM in International Commercial Law from University of Edinburgh, an MBA in Finance from the University of Calgary, and a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from Dalhousie University.

Rikke Nørgaard

Chief Commercial Officer

Energy experience: 13 years of experience in the offshore wind industry within project development, commercial management, and has delivered 6 offshore wind bids for auctions in Denmark, Germany and the US for Orsted and CIP.

Rikke started in the offshore wind industry with Orsted in 2011 and worked with project development of offshore wind projects in Denmark, Germany, France, the UK and the US. As Head of Pipeline Management, in various commercial roles in project management teams and later as US Programme Commercial Manager, she prepared bids and matured projects from early-stage opportunities to final investment decision. From 2018 and until co-founding Aegir in 2020 she worked as an external advisor in early-stage development and bid preparation for offshore wind developers, suppliers and investors.

Before joining Orsted, she worked in the biotech sector in India, South Africa and Denmark. Rikke’s educational background includes an MSc in International Business Studies from Copenhagen Business School, combined with studies at Indian Institute of Management Bangalore and from Queen’s School of Business in Canada.

Leadership team

David Lankester

Chief Technology and Product Officer

Energy experience: 20 years of experience in Engineering and Development in the energy sector from various oil and gas companies in Canada as well as leading energy intelligence firms.

David is responsible for leading the development of Aegir Insights’ next generation platform. He has worked within oil and gas in Canada in various engineering roles for a decade, before transitioning into investment research and energy intelligence. David joined Aegir Insights from Enverus, where he led the development of their flagship SaaS energy analytics platform, playing a key role in both the technical implementation and product roadmap for the entire platform solution.

David has extensive experience in effectively overseeing international teams, consistently delivering on strategic business objectives with a proven track record of success.

Lee Gray

VP Development

Energy experience: nine years of experience within the Energy SaaS sector, working as a technical leader and software developer at RS Energy Group/Enverus and Zedi.

As VP of Development, Lee is responsible for executing and overseeing the technical architecture and software development of Aegir Insights’ next generation platform. Lee has +20 years of experience as a technical leader, building world class products and teams. Lee joined Aegir from Enverus, where he was one of the founding members of the company’s energy intelligence platform, being responsible for platform architecture, scaling the development team and technical solutions.

Lee has extensive knowledge in developing and executing technical roadmaps, managing platform cloud infrastructure, and managing and scaling international development teams. He focuses on designing and building software solutions with a large emphasis on User Experience (UX) and performance.

Matthew Delany

VP Sales & Business Development

Energy experience: 18 years of public and private sector experience in international business and government relations in the clean energy and sustainable development sectors from Vestas, the Danish Energy Agency and Copenhagen Capacity.

At Aegir, Matthew is responsible for driving the execution of our commercial strategy and developing new client relations. Previously, he has held senior positions at organizations including Vestas Wind Systems, MHI Vestas Offshore Wind, law firm Bech-Bruun, and economic development agency Copenhagen Capacity, where he headed up efforts to attract foreign investment in cleantech and sustainable urban development.

Matthew joined Aegir Insights from the post of Chief Advisor in the Danish Energy Agency’s Centre for Global Cooperation, where he advised the US and India on their offshore wind market design and development. He holds a MSc in International Business Administration & Modern Languages from Copenhagen Business School, and a BSc in Business Management and German from the University of East Anglia in the UK.

Katherine Dykes

VP Engineering

Energy experience: 15 year of wind energy experience, leading research teams and programs at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in the US.

Katherine is responsible for the advancement of technical solutions for Aegir’s software and data products. She joined Aegir from Technical University of Denmark (DTU) where she was the Head of Center of the DTU-Total Energies Excellence Center (DTEC) and previously has been the Head of Section in Wind & Energy Systems. Prior to DTU Katherine worked at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory and leading research projects and teams in the areas of wind energy system design and optimization, technoeconomic analysis, and system integration, seeking to accelerate the green transition through research, innovation, and technology demonstration.

Katherine holds a Ph.D. from the Engineering Systems Division from MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), and a dual-MSc in Electrical Engineering and Applied Economics from The Ohio State University.

Morten Jensen

Head of Software Solutions

Energy experience: Seven years of experience in engineering within sustainable energy, conducting feasibility studies and techno-economic models of wind and solar energy projects at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU).

Morten is responsible for the development of Aegir Insights’ offshore wind tool chain and software products. Prior to joining Aegir Insights, he worked as a Research Assistant in the Sustainability Division at the Department of Technology, Management and Economics at DTU, the Technical University of Denmark. Morten has a deep knowledge of renewable energy systems and is skilled in data analysis, modeling, and feasibility studies.

Morten holds a MSc in Engineering and Sustainable Energy and a BSc in Engineering from the DTU and has studied machine learning from Stanford University.

Victoria Toft

Head of Data

Energy experience: Ten years of wind energy experience, working withing project management, commercial development and technical roles at Siemens and Siemens Gamesa.

Victoria is responsible for leading the development and managing Aegir’s data and analytics products. Before joining Aegir, she held various roles in the wind energy sector, focusing on project procurement, project management and business developers at Siemens Wind Power and at Siemens Gamesa. Victoria has extensive experience in wind market forecasting, cost estimation and supply chain opportunities across a range of international markets.

Victoria holds a MSc in Engineering, Operations and Innovation Management from Aalborg University, as well as a BSc in Global Business Engineering from the same institution.

David Vestergaard Thomsen

Head of Engagement and Advisory

Energy experience: three years of offshore wind experience, advising more than 20 international energy developers and several investors on strategic business-critical growth opportunities.

In Aegir Insights, David is responsible for client engagement and advisory projects, where he engages with leading offshore wind developers and other clients on growth strategy, market assessment, M&A, and portfolio strategy. He oversees adaptation of Aegir's toolchain and supports clients on leveraging the full value of the offerings for improved decision-making.

David received his MSc degree from Copenhagen Business School (CBS) with exchange studies on corporate strategy at the London School of Economics (LSE). He has a BA from the University of Copenhagen and UCLA in California and has furthermore taken various executive finance courses at CBS and the Wharton business school.

Lise Pejtersen

Head of People & Business Support

Energy experience: 17 years of wind energy industry experience starting with Orsted in 2007, working on various offshore wind projects supporting the core management teams within project coordination and as Manager.

Lise is responsible for HR and Business Support. Before joining Aegir, Lise held various positions within project coordination working on different international offshore wind projects in the development and execution phase in Europe, and for the last 7 years, taking up the role as Manager for project- and site support with a global team situated across Europe and US. Lise is skilled in leadership, people & culture, HR processes, workforce management, and administrative framework.

Lise has a Bachelor of Commerce in Communication and is certified in project management (CAPM) and personality profiles (Insights). Lise also holds a mini-MBA in Management.

Pablo Pedrejón

Board Member

Pablo Pedrejón is a Partner at Seaya Ventures, a venture capital firm based in Madrid, Spain, covering technological and start-up investments. Prior to this, Pablo was the Omnichannel & Ecommerce Director at Maskota and the CEO & Co-founder at Petsy.mx.

Morten Halborg

Board Member

Morten Halborg is Managing Partner and Co-founder at Climentum Capital, a NextGen Climate tech VC fund. Morten has spent 20+ years in the institutional investing world, the last 15 of which with Swedish pension giant Skandia Asset Management as COO, CIO and CEO and has held board roles for many years.

Jon Erik Reinhardsen

Advisory Board

Jon Erik Reinhardsen is Chairman of the Board at Equinor and board member at Telenor and at Oceaneering International. He has more than 40 years’ experience in the international energy industry, having held roles including CEO of Petroleum Geo-Services (PGS), delivering global geophysical- and reservoir services, and executive leadership positions in the Aker Kvaerner group.

Ryan Horvat

Advisory Board

Ryan Horvat has an extensive background in energy research, data and analytics. As Managing Director of the RS Energy, he was a key member of the team that transformed the group from a specialist research-only firm into an industry-leading SaaS provider. Ryan also led the RS Energy’s product team responsible for data acquisition and strategy and helped facilitate the sale of the business to Genstar (Enverus) in 2020.
