After the land grabbing in the earlier 2020’s, the global offshore wind sector’s focus has shifted to value creation over sheer volume. The worst turmoil is expected to have passed, and cost levels have been stabilizing.
The industry is poised for significant growth. Aegir Insights forecasts offshore wind capacity (excl. China) to double by 2030 and again by 2035, surpassing 200 GW — led by established markets.
2024 is setting a step into this direction, as a monumental year for offshore wind auctions:
🔹An impressive 80+ GW was awarded across more than 10 markets
🔹However, there has also been 20 GW+ which was not awarded due to lack of interest.
