The last six months marked a step forward for commercial floating wind, with 1.9 GW of offtake contracts awarded, the first signals of floating technology entering commercial scale. That is a significant jump forward from what has been secured globally prior to this, in terms of both volume and cost.
This breakthrough is thanks to strong commitment from the governments of France, the UK, and South Korea — all aiming for a leading position in offshore wind supply chains and services.
But while momentum is building, there are many piece which still need to be solved - strategic port investments, fit-for-purpose vessels, and manufacturing capacity to ensure that this first commercial volume becomes a sustainable sector.
At Aegir Insights, we focus on helping stakeholders cut through uncertainty with trusted data, scenario modelling and strategic intelligence — supporting better decision-making across policy, investment, and development planning.
Let’s talk about what the future of floating looks like.
